Top Ten Series I've Been Meaning To Start But Haven't

I decided it would be fun to take part in Top Ten Tuesday, from The Broke and the Bookish. Today's prompt is "Top Ten Series I've Been Meaning To Start But Haven't," and let me just say, I think there are way more than ten!

Here is some backstory. Way back in 2011, I had a book blog called, "Such a Teenage Bookworm," and I posted very regularly as I hadn't even started high school yet! I've always been an avid reader and I thought it would be so much fun to talk with other readers about the books that I enjoyed. Then, four years of high school happened. I had no time to run my blog anymore! Now that I have finished a year of college and I am on summer break, I picked reading back up again and thought, I think it would be fun to blog again. I tried to log into my old blog, but I think Blogspot changed their settings (since it has been six years) and I can't log back on! So, I started a new blog and I'm starting fresh. However, six years of not blogging means I am way behind on reading popular series that other bloggers have been reading. Long story short, I have a lot of catching up to do!

#1: Shades of Magic by V.E. Schwab

I have heard so many rave reviews about this series and I'm just dying to see if it lives up to the hype! It is an adult series, but I've heard people say it's not that much of a stretch from young adult, so I'm willing to try it out. It looks like an interesting plot, full of magic and London, so I think this will be high up on my TBR list. I have to add that I've seen many beautiful pictures of the series on Instagram, and I want to take some nice shots of my own, so that's also a perk!

#2: The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

This is another series that I've been dying to read and heard wonderful things about. Wow, there are six books in this series, so it might take some time, but I will get it done! I've heard the premise of the series is retellings, which I absolutely love and intrigues me even more. Actually, I may be starting this series sooner than you would think because I purchased the first book, Cinder, so it's just a matter of time before you see my review on it! Also, the covers are so beautiful!! Okay, Kristen, just read it already.

#3: Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

I started reading the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, and I really enjoyed the first book and Sarah J. Maas's writing style, so I've been interested in reading her other series, Throne of Glass. This is another large series, but I think I could handle it. Maybe. Honestly, I thought my TBR list was going to be manageable, but now that I'm listing out all the series that I want to read, it's not looking too good.... Anyways, I've heard mixed reviews about this series, but I think if I enjoyed Sarah's other series, than I should take a shot with this one.

#4: The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

I've heard a lot of things about this series as well and seen it all over Instagram, and I really want to read it! The plot looks interesting, and many bloggers I have read have said that they highly recommend it. I've never read anything by Maggie Stiefvater, but this could be my first with her! I think those covers are so pretty too, especially Blue Lily, Lily Blue. Everybody motivate me to read this series!!

#4: Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

This is a trilogy, which seems more manageable to me! I recently read Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor, and absolutely loved everything about it. Her writing was so beautiful and the story was so unique and original, so I really want to read more by her. I added this to my TBR list when it first came out in 2011, so I think it's time for me to get started with this trilogy, don't you think?! From the reviewers that I follow on Goodreads, I've seen all wonderful reviews and five-stars, so I want to see if I enjoy it as well!

#5: To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

So many people have adored this trilogy and said it's the cutest thing that they have ever read! I loved Jenny Han's Summer series way back, so I'm dying to read this one as well! The Summer books were actually the cutest books in the world and I think this trilogy would be wonderful to read in the summer! I'm always looking for a good series to read when I'm sitting on the beach or tanning by the pool, and I think this one might be it.

#6: Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

Leigh Bardugo is going to make this list twice, because I have never read anything by her and her series have been very popular. I would like to read this series before I start her other one, because I heard they connect in some way or it gives some background? I don't know, I can't keep up. Someone tell me in the comments if this is true! I am interested to see whether I would enjoy her writing and what I think of the Grisha trilogy.

#7: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Here she is again! This is a series that I've heard rave reviews about, more so than the Grisha trilogy. The plot is intriguing, although I don't like to read a summary very thoroughly before I read the book, so I guess I'll just have to read this book and let you know what I think! The covers are seriously stunning; I need to buy these books right now! And, there's only two, I could (theoretically) catch up quick!

#8: The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

These books look so interesting! I love when books have a different format other than narrative, so I think these ones would be right up my alley. I've seen them in the book store and flipped through the pages briefly, but never bought them, and I think I just need to do it because I have heard good things about them. Look at the vibrantly colored covers! They're just calling my name.

#9: Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier

I feel like these last two series I will have in my Top Ten may be so old that they are out of the radar nowadays, but when I first started blogging in 2011, this book was very popular! And, I never read it. So, I think it's time to read this trilogy and see if I enjoy it. I can't remember if other bloggers liked these books, but I guess I will just have to see for myself. Honestly, I just want to own them for the beauty of the covers because they are something else. Like, just look at them.

#10: Graceling Realm by Kristin Cashore

This was another trilogy that was popular back in 2011, but I can't remember people's reviews on them! It seems interesting, so I'll give it a shot at some point. I don't know when that's going to be, but it will be done, mark my words.

Honorable Mentions

#11: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I've seen very good reviews for these books, and I want to try them out for myself as well soon!

#12: The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson

The covers are beautiful, and I've seen some good reviews, so this is another series that I want to start!

---

I had so much fun putting together this post! However, it did make me realize how many series that I haven't read that I really want to start, and now I'm stressed. This doesn't even mention the countless number of standalone books that I haven't read yet.... Oh man, I'm in too deep. Wish me luck!!

Let's chat in the comments!

Have you read any of these series? Tell me what you thought of them! I love hearing people's thoughts on books, and you may make me want to change the order of my TBR list :)

  3. Oooo! I spy LOTS of series on this list that I haven't started... and didn't put on my list this week. Oh, no! (This means there are way more series than I realized that I've yet to read.) I recognize 'Crows,' 'Lunar,' and TOG. Between them all, I'd say that's a lot of reading materiel.

I did read Ruby Red a while back and enjoyed it fine, though I haven't gone back to read the rest. Yet.

    Hope you enjoy these! :)

  15. I will ALWAYS be such a fan of Graceling, I did a reread of it last year for a review on my blog. I wasn't as much of a fan of Bitterblue but I still enjoyed Fire. I need to read it again. I really liked P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han. It's predecessor I didn't like as much, but I can't wait to read Always and Forever.
